If this is you're first time using Ventrilo, we've created this tutorial to help you through it:

First download the . Choose current (should be toward the top) client version. (If you're using a Mac, be sure to choose the Mac option).

 

1. After install, open Ventrilo and click the top right pointing arrow "->" (in the "User Name" row)

2. Then click "new"

3. Input your username. (This is the name that everyone will see, but please try to keep it as close to your ingame/forums name as possible for identification purposes.) When you are done, click "OK"

4. Input your phonetic name. (This is what people in vent will here when you enter or leave the room, so please keep it short, without tags, and in conjunction with your username, so it's not a major distraction.) When you are done, click "OK"

5. Click the second right pointing arrow "->" (in the "Server" row)

6. Click "New"

7. Input something to identify this Ventrilo server (such as "ISI") from any others you may have or will eventually get and click "OK"

8. Enter the IP address: 8.6.2.152

9. Enter the Port number: 4452

10. Input the password that you obtained from our Vent Team (remember the password is case sensitive, so enter it exactly as it was given) and click "OK"

11. Click "Connect"

12. Once connected, click "Setup" to set up your Vent options. (You will be able to hear others while in "Setup," but they WILL NOT be able to hear you until you've closed the "Setup" section.

13. Check the "Use Push-To-Talk Hotkey"

14. Click in the "Hotkey" box and push the button you want to push when you want to talk. (Try to find one that you won't use gaming. Some suggest using the "mouse 3" button.)

15. Uncheck the "Play Key Clicks" box. (This removes that little buzzing sound you hear when you press your hotkey.)

16. Once you are all setup, you may want to adjust your "Inbound" or "Outbound" sound to ensure that you can hear others and be heard as well.

17. Click connect and start chatting. If you need anymore help, ask a Vent Admin for assistance.
